:: SUNBURNT CHRISTMAS ::

I love a Sunburnt Christmas
The heat admist the cheer
Air cons working overtime
and no snow to be seen here -
I love the sunshine greeting
that wakes us at first light
And shines until the Southern Cross
envelops us at night.

Yes, Christmas in Australia is not the same as most know Christmas to be. To most, the thought of celebrating in summer just doesn't seem right as we can't imagine keeping warm by the fire and having snow fall outside our windows. lol Think a lavish 4th of July with a Christmas tree. lol

This kit is a touch of all things Christmas with a traditional Aussie flavour, though a Surfin' Santa didn't make it into this one. lol But our national floral emblem can be seen throughout - the beautiful yellow wattle flower.

So sit back and relax by the barbie for Christmas beneath the Southern Cross.

I had a request to make an Aussie Christmas tag from a very special friend of mine, and though I haven't yet done an Aussie Christmas kit this year (it's on my TO DO list...lol) I used Susan's gorgeous "Koala Christmas" available from Aussie Scraps.

It's that time of year again as we approach Christmas and reflect on our memories of days gone by. Christmas is always a time for reflection as well as celebration - a joyous reminder of one Holy Night. Sadly it has become too commercialised and more about how much we can spend than about how much we live, love and laugh. Added to that is the factor of offending the minority in our own country - a Christian nation - where the meaning of Christmas is to be celebrated not banned. A sad fact of the times we live in....

So let's get back to basics and remember what we love. The joys of Christmas and the simplicity of love...all wrapped up and placed beneath the tree for eager faces to open Christmas morning. That is Christmas. That is Love.

:: DEATH BECOMES HER ::

In the eerie darkness is Belladonna, the Princess of Death - named for the poisonous plant that if digested produces fatal results - just as if you cross her path you may end up the same way. Beautiful yet deadly she wasn't always so breathtaking - it was only death that becomes her, for as a mortal she was rather ordinary. And so she became a morticia of the night bringing horror to all who enter her lair.

So be careful when you journey into the night for Belladonna may await you.

:: A FURRY LITTLE CHRISTMAS::

Have yourself a furry little Christmas
All creatures great and small
For a puppy or kitten is for life or not at all...

Christmas is one of the pet store's busiest times of year as ignorant parents buy a delightful puppy or cute little kitten for their children...oblivious or carefree to the fact that many of those puppies and kittens will be left abandoned and unloved once the novetly wears off. Usually by the end of January or February.

This kit is a tribute to all the animals who are abandoned and left unloved, some tied in the backyard's cold while others roam the streets. Some survive, some don't. Thankfully there are shelters who take in these unwanted and unloved animals and adopt them out to those who will them give them their forever homes. Wouldn't it be wonderful if we could all just live in harmony with our animal friends - for they are far more faithful than most of mankind and will love us till their dying days.

Yes...a puppy or kitten is for life NOT just for Christmas.
